In the same way that a huge variety of cultures have evolved all across the world, here in Japan there are also a wide variety of cultures whose growth has been nurtured over time.
From these cultures a wealth of art has been born – from that commissioned by the great powers of the ages to display their grandeur, to the art refined throughout the lives of common people.
A Design Laboratory has particular expertise in the areas of Ukiyoe (Japanese water-color), signboards, calligraphy, advertisements, traditional patterns, and popular art.
We take inspiration from various cultures around the world to mix with our Japanese roots, and produce a fusion which achieves a balance between the power of tradition and the freshness of modernity.
Achieving this harmony to connect the past and the future is our mission.

In 2018, my work was sold as the main visual by EDIFICE in its nationwide capsule collection called PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN×HIROFUMI KIYONAGA.

In 2019, my work was featured by HARE at Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO (2020 Spring and Summer Collection) as “HARE×Ukiyoe-Mon” collaboration graphic art.

Since 2019 I have been working with the Japanese alcohol company Iichiko to design a series of advertisements and posters for their business in the USA.

In 2020, in collaboration with adidas Japan and their coordination of the JAPAN RUGBY TOP LEAGUE, I designed the jerseys for a number of teams, including Toyota Verblitz, NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes , RICOH BlackRams, Suntory Sungoliath, and the Kobelco Steelers.
